FAQs

What is the icanmakeitbetter platform?

icanmakeitbetter is an online customer insights platform that allows clients, such as HP to gather feedback, innovate, and conduct research amongst research participants. For more information on this tool, go to http://www.icanmakeitbetter.com.

What is the relationship between HP and icanmakeitbetter?

HP has partnered with icanmakeitbetter to create the HP Paper Community located online at https://hppapercommunity.icanmakeitbetter.com.

How do customers participate?

Qualified users can simply go online to visit the HP Paper Community, https://hppapercommunity.icanmakeitbetter.com click "Sign In" to create an account. Creating an account is easy. Simply enter a username, email address, and password and you’re part of the community! NOTE: Not everyone will qualify and not everyone will be invited to all activities or areas of the community.

Once users have created an account, they may post ideas, participate in surveys, and join public and private discussions/focus groups. From time to time, HP may invite specific users to participate in product development, innovation, and research sessions based upon your community activity, survey responses, and user profile information.

Do community members ever get incentives?

Yes, this community often offers incentives through quick polls, surveys. If an incentive is offered for a given survey, the amount and method of distribution will be clearly stated in the invite email, or at the start of the survey. If no incentive is mentioned, then none is offered. For each month that you complete all activities, you will be rewarded $5. Please refer to the community homepage for more details.

NOTE: This community is about improving products and services for YOU. We want this to be fun, interactive and rewarding. We also want to be fair and pay you for your valuable time. However, we do not want this to simply be a monetary transaction – that will create the wrong type of community that you won’t enjoy. So, the more you participate in paid and unpaid activities the better the community is and the more we can invite you to activities that will be of interest to you based upon your previous feedback. Thank you for making this community better!

PLEASE NOTE: Incentives are sent manually, after reviewing the quality and validity of responses. This means that incentives are distributed via email and will typically be sent within two weeks of the day the survey closes. Incentives are NOT sent at the moment of survey completion. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Can I still use my printer to print stamps, photos, legal docs, and other special materials while participating in this study?

You can continue to print special materials with your printer, but for the purpose of this study, please only include standard 8.5”x11” printer/copy paper when you record the weight of your paper in our Bi-weekly Paper Usage Activity.

How do I weigh my paper?

Every two weeks, please take the scale that you received and weigh all of your printer paper (from your printer tray and the unused paper) in grams. Record the weight of your paper in our Bi-Weekly Paper Usage Activity, which you may access through our email invites or the community homepage. Please review the below instructions on how to use the scale:

  • Insert batteries. Make sure the batteries provided in the package are inserted inside
  • the scale.
  • Place your scale on a solid, flat surface.

  • Press the ON button (large button on the left).
  • Set units to grams. If the unit of measurement is not already set to “G”, use the large
  • button on the bottom right of the scale and press it lightly to change the
  • units to “G”.
  • Collect all printer paper for your weigh-in. This includes any paper inside the printer
  • tray, opened or unopened packages.
  • Exclude any other paper from your weigh-in, such as photo paper, stock paper,
  • colored paper, or any other special paper.
  • Make sure that the paper does not touch anything other than the scale, to properly account for its full weight. If the paper sags over the scale and touches the table you are weighing it on, please try and prop up the scale on something that will allow the paper to sag without touching anything (e.g. a large book).
